PLATFORM OWNERSHIP AND DEVELOPMENT

Building and owning a shared operational platform

I owned the business concept and later the platform, translating the director’s request for adviser-level access into requirements developed with stores, field managers, Trading and technology teams. Early work included understanding organisational processes, mapping dependencies and assessing Qlik, Tableau and Oracle.

My contribution

A proof of concept established Oracle reporting, store access and BT–EE data movement. Stage one delivered transactions and validation; stage two added basket value. I secured £700,000 across the two stages, both delivered within budget. A technical project manager led technical execution.

What followed

After launch, I owned reports, commissions extracts and month-end reconciliation, directing offshore development within a £180,000 annual budget. I designed business logic and agreed reporting priorities with Trading. The platform provided 175 standardised KPIs and access for approximately 5,500 users, serving roughly 450 stores for about seven years.
